There are two types of license plates in China and Hong Kong: FV license plates and Guangdong Z license plates. The application conditions and scope of use of the two license plates are different.
The FV license plate is a license plate for mainland vehicles entering Hong Kong. The policy stipulates that the FV license plate can be legally driven throughout the mainland and the Hong Kong Administrative Region.
The Guangdong Z license plate is a license plate for Hong Kong cars entering the mainland. The policy stipulates that the Guangdong Z license plate can be legally driven in Guangdong Province and the Hong Kong Administrative Region.
If you need to apply for a Guangdong Z license plate, you only need to provide your ID card (either domestic or Hong Kong ID card is acceptable). If any other required information is available, try to provide the following:
A. Hong Kong vehicle registration certificate: If you haven’t bought a car in Hong Kong yet, we can purchase temporary vehicles on your behalf.
B. Hong Kong permanent resident identity card: This is used to serve as a nominee director of a Hong Kong company. If you don’t have one, you can ask a relative or friend to name it. Because the company has not started formal operations, there is no legal risk. After applying for the license plate, you can change the nominal director to you.
C. The Hong Kong main driver has four certificates and one photo: Hong Kong ID card, home return permit, Hong Kong driver’s license, mainland driver’s license, and a large one-inch bareheaded photo with a white background. If there are no Hong Kong drivers, we can provide part-time Hong Kong permanent resident drivers as nominal drivers.
D. Photos of Hong Kong vehicles: 1 color photo with the vehicle angle 45 degrees to the left of the forward direction and size 88mm × 60mm.
If you already have your own Hong Kong company or a domestic foreign-funded company, you also need to provide the following information:
Hong Kong company’s registration certificate, business registration certificate, NNC1 file or NAR1 file;
Business license of foreign-invested company, foreign investment approval certificate or change and filing receipt, corporate tax payment voucher;
Process:
Provide Hong Kong permanent resident identity card, driver’s certificate, etc., sign the contract, and pay 50% of the down payment of the contract;
“Hong Kong License Plate” handles Hong Kong companies and foreign-invested companies on your behalf and prepares relevant information;
The company operates until it meets the conditions, pays taxes and applies for relevant certificates;
“Hong Kong License Plate” prepares paper materials on your behalf and submits them to the competent department for approval. After receiving the acceptance receipt, 40% of the second installment of the contract will be paid.
After receiving the approval document, the remaining 10% will be paid, and the business will be completed by Ganggangdi on your behalf.
After receiving the approval, go through the Hong Kong vehicle inspection, vehicle management office to apply for a driving license, Hong Kong restricted area paper, customs inspection and quarantine procedures, and get the license plate to hang after driving through the customs. These procedures can usually be completed within 2 weeks.
